Grandmaster's Study

Grandmaster's Study is a complete two-player (hot-seat) chess game staged like a fine board on a green leather desk under a warm lamp. The board alternates maple (#e8d0aa) and walnut (#8a5a3b) squares with real-looking grain: maple runs horizontally and walnut vertically, as on a hand-made board. It sits in a deep red-brown lacquered frame with a gloss highlight, a thin brass inlay, gold-filled engraved serif coordinates on all four sides and four screwed brass corner fittings. The pieces are original Staunton-inspired SVG silhouettes in warm ivory (#f7f0e1) and ebony (#1e1b18), lit from the upper left with highlights, detail lines and soft cast shadows. Beside the board, a classic serif panel carries the title, a status plate, brass control buttons, a green-baize tray of captured pieces with the material balance, and a cream score sheet with a red margin, blue ruled lines, editable player names and moves in algebraic notation.
