Dune Engine — Falling Sand Sandbox

An interactive single-file Opus 5.5 web experiment with its original prompt.

✦About this vibe

Dune Engine is a falling-sand physics toy styled as a desert-dusk instrument. A large pixel-art canvas, framed in terracotta, sits under a dusk-blue sky with faint stars and a banded retro sun low on the horizon; a sand-coloured tool panel holds textured element swatches, the brush, the controls and three scenes. The title "DUNE ENGINE" is drawn in a 5×7 bitmap font whose grains fall into place like sand. The simulation is a real cellular automaton on 3–4 px cells: sand piles and sinks through water, water shimmers and levels out sideways, oil floats and catches fire, fire flickers upward and burns wood and plants, steam rises and rains back down, lava crawls, melts sand into glass and crusts into stone where it meets the sea, and plants creep into any water they touch. It opens on an erupting volcano scene with a glowing lava conduit, a forested flank and an oily sea.
