Create a 3D chess simulator set in the pre-Spanish Philippines — a fully playable, interactive chess experience that imagines the game as it might have existed among the barangay kingdoms of the archipelago before 1521. Fuse the complete structure and depth of chess with the world of pre-colonial Philippine civilization: datus and rajahs, the babaylan who communed with spirits, bagani warriors, timawa freemen, and the great balangay and karakoa warships that ruled the seas, all rendered in an atmosphere of carved hardwood, gold, woven banig mats, nipa and bamboo, torchlight, and tropical island air.
The heart of the experience is a real game of chess, not a diorama. Implement full legal-move chess rules: piece movement and captures, check and checkmate, stalemate, castling, en passant, promotion, draw conditions, and a complete move history with algebraic-style notation the visitor can review, step through, and undo. Support local two-player play on one board and play against a computer opponent with at least a couple of clearly distinguished difficulty levels, so a casual visitor can win and a serious player can be challenged. Show captured pieces, whose turn it is, check warnings, and game-over states with appropriate ceremony.
Develop the piece set as a coherent pre-colonial court and war host rather than European pieces with a tropical paint job. Give each of the six piece types its own name, silhouette, and material identity drawn from pre-Spanish Philippine society — for example, a datu or rajah as the king, a lakambini or dayang as the queen, a babaylan in place of the bishop, a swift raiding vessel such as a karakoa in place of the rook, and timawa or mandirigma foot soldiers as pawns. Each piece should be a readable 3D object with its own modeled or assembled geometry, distinct enough to identify at a glance across the board, with the two sides differentiated by material, wood tone, metal, or pigment rather than only by color overlay.
Make the 3D presentation feel alive and tactile. The visitor can orbit, zoom, and pan the camera around the board, flip sides, and inspect pieces up close. Selecting a piece lifts or highlights it, shows its legal destinations on the board, and moving a piece animates its travel; captures should carry weight through motion, sound, or ritual effect rather than an instant swap. Set the board in an evocative environment — a great hut or open-air pavilion by the water at dusk, torches or a fire casting warm light, the sea or rice terraces in the distance — with subtle ambient motion such as flame flicker, drifting smoke, swaying leaves, or glinting water, and an ambient sound or musical layer the visitor can mute. Piece hover, focus, check, and victory states should each have their own visual and audio feedback.
Carry the experience through its secondary and edge states: an inviting title or entry moment, choosing sides and mode, promotion selection, resignation and rematch flows, draw offers in two-player play, a captured-pieces graveyard, move-by-move replay, and graceful behavior on small screens where the camera and controls must still work by touch. Include a brief, well-written "about" surface that honestly frames the game as an imaginative reconstruction — chess reached the islands with the Spanish, and this simulator reimagines the game through pre-colonial Filipino material culture and society — so the experience teaches as well as entertains.
Do not take shortcuts, substitute a cookie-cutter 3D chess template, or stop at a superficial approximation with generic low-poly pieces on a flat board. This skill imposes no token budget limit, so pursue the full depth of the experience: complete and correct chess rules, a computer opponent worth playing, distinct authored piece designs, tactile camera and interaction, animated motion and capture feedback, atmospheric environment and sound, responsive states across devices, and the small details — hover glints, turn indicators, promotion ceremony, endgame moods — that make the simulator feel authored and complete. Keep refining its interactions, states, motion, and atmosphere until a visitor could genuinely sit down, play a full game to checkmate, and feel transported.
